On Monday, a jury in the Northern District of Illinois found that Samsung’s smartphones do not infringe a coding patent owned by Cascades Computer Innovation, LLC (1:11-cv-04574). Another jury had come to the same conclusion in July 2015, but after discovering that the jurors had been inadvertently given unauthorized versions of certain exhibits, Judge Matthew Kelly declared that Cascades deserved a new trial.
