CAP Co., Ltd. is a Korea-based entity that filed its first lawsuit against Microsoft. The suit asserts three patents, all of which originated with INCA Internet (RE42,196, RE44,249, 8,544,078). The ‘196 and ‘249 patents are both reissue patents derived from patent 7,062,552 and relate to blocking malware and viruses. The ‘078 patent relates to network security through a firewall. Microsoft’s Windows operating systems and its security software are accused of infringing the asserted patents. The patents’ former owner, INCA Internet, is an operating company that sells computer security software and also goes by the name nProtect. CAP’s correspondent for each patent assignment is patent broker Renaissance IP. RPX saw Renaissance IP as the broker in several open market opportunities from 2011. 7/3, 5:14cv03052
