Voice Integration Technologies (VIT) filed eight separate suits against Motorola, SMC Networks, Belkin, Draytek, Netgear, Zoom Telephonics, Technicolor, and Planet Technology alleging that the defendants’ router, firewall, or VPN devices infringe a patent related to voice recognition technology (7,127,048). These are the first patent infringement suits initiated by VIT. The patent-in-suit originated with Paradyne and was later assigned by Zhone Technologies to Patent Business Development in February 2011.
