Princeton Digital Image Corporation filed 12 separate suits against Amazon, Best Buy, CDW, Dell, eBay, J.C. Penney, OfficeMax, Office Depot, QVC, Sears, Staples, and Wal-Mart alleging that the defendants’ websites, which use encoded images to display data, infringe a patent related to coding of digital signals in cameras, printers, and multi-function products (4,813,056). Princeton Digital last filed suit in Dec. 2012 against Apple, CAE Healthcare, Kyocera Communications, Simbionix and Microsoft. Since Jan. 2010, Princeton Digital has filed over 25 prior suits against several wireless communications and device companies, including Canon, Eastman Kodak, Facebook, Fujifilm, HP, ImageShack, Photobucket.com, Ricoh, Shutterfly, Xerox, and Yahoo.
