WiLAN subsidiary Open Network Solutions filed suit against HTC for alleged patent infringement. The two patents-in-suit relate to open network communication between processing systems, such as PCs, and non-standard input/output devices including magnet stripe readers and smart card readers (6,745,259, 6,907,476). Open Network’s complaint accuses HTC’s non-standard input/output devices that are DLNA-compatible, as well as those that access content over the Internet, of infringing the asserted patents. The only product listed by name in the complaint was HTC’s One (M8) smartphone.
