In late August 2019, while IP Edge LLC dropped four brand new litigation campaigns through litigating entities Aristors Licensing LLC (over a patent received from an inventor-controlled entity), Enchanted IP LLC (over a patent received from Huawei), Sonohm Licensing LLC (over patents received from Siemens), and Zyrcuits IP LLC (over a patent received from Linex Technologies, Inc.), the Texas monetization firm also added cases across an even broader set of its many campaigns. Altair Logix LLC, Digi Portal LLC, EncodiTech LLC, Saros Licensing LLC, and Wave Linx LLC—each a Texas plaintiff associated with IP Edge—have all filed cases over the past week.

The file-and-settle pattern by which Texas monetization firm IP Edge LLC wages its litigation has quickly taken hold in the campaign launched in late February by apparent affiliate Wave Linx LLC. New suits filed last week against CarrierX and Free Conferencing (1:19-cv-00986), Evocate (1:19-cv-00987), and Mitel Networks (1:19-cv-00988) follow dismissals already ending prior suits against Avaya, DialPad, HighFive Technologies, LogMeIn, and Polycom, with stays halting the remaining earlier suits, filed against Blue Jeans Network, Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (Arkadin), RingCentral, and both Zoom Video Communications and Zoom Voice Communications, all in the District of Delaware. The sole patent asserted in this campaign, received by IP Edge as part of a larger acquisition from Siemens, broadly concerns transmitting notifications from the telephone system to a browser using “networking protocols”.

One of the six campaigns launched by Texas monetization firm IP Edge LLC over a former Siemens patent has now already seen a second round of suits filed. Last week Wave Linx LLC hit Avaya (1:19-cv-00607), Dialpad (1:19-cv-00608), and Polycom (1:19-cv-00609) over the provision of online meeting systems—Avaya’s Equinox Meetings Online, UberConference by Dialpad, and Polycom’s RealPresence Meetings, respectively—that provide notifications when a user enters or exits a meeting. The sole patent asserted in this campaign broadly concerns transmitting notifications from the telephone system to a browser using “networking protocols”.

Wave Linx LLC, an affiliate of Texas monetization firm IP Edge LLC, has asserted another patent from among those acquired from Siemens in October 2018. The NPE targets Blue Jeans Network (1:19-cv-00419), HighFive Technologies (1:19-cv-00420), LogMeIn (1:19-cv-00421), Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (Arkadin) (1:19-cv-00418), RingCentral (1:19-cv-00422), and Zoom Video Communications and Zoom Voice Communications (1:19-cv-00423), all in the District of Delaware, over their provision of online meeting or conferencing systems that provide a notification when a participant has entered or exited via a phone connection (e.g., by playing a tone, allowing users to hear the name of the participant, or showing a visual notification).
