Decatur Licensing LLC, a plaintiff apparently affiliated with Texas monetization firm IP Edge LLC, has kicked off a new mobile device campaign, accusing ASUSTek (3:21-cv-00761), Lenovo (Motorola Mobility) (1:21-cv-00108), LG Electronics (1:21-cv-00106), and Samsung (1:21-cv-00765) of infringing a patent that issued in July 2017 to Kyocera. The patent generally relates to managing communications between a mobile device and one base station with a wider coverage area as well as another with a smaller coverage area, where the mobile device uses multiple carriers (frequency bands) at once when communicating with the base stations. Decatur Licensing accuses the defendants of infringement through the provision of smartphones with 5G support.
