The Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) has cancelled all of the asserted claims from a wireless file server patent litigated by Rosetta-Wireless Corporation against Apple, HTC, Lenovo (Motorola Mobility), LG Electronics (LGE), and Samsung. In a final decision issued on August 21 in two consolidated inter partes reviews (IPRs) co-filed by Apple and Samsung (IPR2016-00616, IPR2016-00622), the PTAB found that all of the challenged claims are obvious in light of prior art.
Rosetta-Wireless Corporationsued Apple, HTC, LG Electronics, Motorola, and Samsung for alleged infringement of a patent related to a wireless personal server (7,149,511). The complaint lists more than 280 accused products, all smartphones released by defendants between 2012 and 2014. This infringement suit appears to be the first to be filed by Rosetta-Wireless, and the first to litigate the ‘511 patent.
