Inventor-backed Sentegra, LLC has filed a fifth case in its year-long mobile devices campaign, this one against Samsung (1:15-cv-09266). The NPE’s past four cases have all asserted the 8,706,627 patent, which issued to Sentegra’s founder Jon Shore and generally relates to mobile devices capable of making secure transactions. The case against Samsung also asserts for the first time a patent that Sentegra just received (on November 13, 2015) from LG Electronics (LGE): 7,920,904. The ‘904 patent generally relates to a particular microphone setup on a mobile device. Sentegra’s complaint accuses Samsung’s smartphones of infringing both patents and Samsung’s tablets of also infringing the ‘627 patent.
