Ahmad Ashrafzadeh and Fereydun “Tony” Tabaian have together filed suit against Intel (3:18-cv-00326), accusing the company of infringing a single patent, generally related to a power regulation circuit, that names both individuals as inventors. The plaintiffs were cofounders of the patent’s original assignee, NuPower Semiconductor, a fabless semiconductor company that was dissolved in 2011. The complaint’s infringement allegations focus on certain processors from Intel’s existing Haswell, Broadwell, and Skylake lines and its upcoming Ice Lake and Tigerlake lines that use Intel’s FIVR (Fully Integrated Voltage Regulator) technology, which integrates hardware for delivering power to a processor onto the processor’s package/die.
