Uniloc filed 12 separate suits against Altair Engineering, Altera, Altium, Dassault Systemes SolidWorks, Environmental Systems Research Institute, Mintab, OriginLab, Parametric Technology, SlickEdit, SofTech, System Development, and Waterloo Maple, alleging that the defendants’ software products that permit users to “check out” licenses infringe a patent related to checking license status with a registration authority. Uniloc has filed over 20 prior suits since September 2003 against over 80 defendants, including Activision Blizzard, Adobe, Electronic Arts, Microsoft, Sony, and Texas Instruments. According to the complaint, Uniloc is the exclusive licensee of the patent-in-suit. Uniloc was also assigned the patent-in-suit by Intergraph Technologies Company in June 2011.
