New NPE Enterprise Systems Technologies SARL filed seven patent infringement suits against Amazon, Apple, Audience Inc., Cirrus, Motorola Mobility, Samsung, and Qualcomm. Each case involves at least one of five patents that originate with Siemens. The patents-in-suit relate to automated downloading, bandwidth optimization, circuits for sensing audio input/output plugs, hand-free telephone operation, and mobile messaging (5,870,610, 6,236,642, 6,594,366, 6,785,381, 7,454,201). Defendants’ smartphone handsets, tablets, e-readers, media players, and laptops, as well as components utilized in those devices, are accused of infringing the patents-in-suit.
