Lynk Labs, Inc. v. Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. et al DC

On May 17, 2021, Samsung (1:21-cv-02665) filed a complaint asking the Northern District of Illinois for declaratory judgments (DJs) that it does not infringe eight patents held by Lynk Labs, Inc. through the provision of its Galaxy-series devices (i.e., smartphones, smartwatches, and tablets), smart TVs, wireless charging products, and SmartThings-branded smart home products. Eight days later, Lynk Labs filed an affirmative suit against Samsung (6:21-cv-00526), alleging infringement of a single related patent—broadly concerning AC LED lighting—that issued that same day, May 25, 2021, which apparently prompted Samsung to file an amended complaint in its DJ action to cover the newly granted patent.
