A method of maintaining the remission of ulcerative colitis in a subject comprising administering to the subject a granulated mesalamine formulation comprising four capsules each comprising 0.375 g of granulated mesalamine once per day in the morning, without food, wherein: said method maintains remission of ulcerative colitis in a subject for a period of at least 6 months of treatment; remission is defined as a DAI score of 0 or 1; the granulated mesalamine formulation is not administered with antacids; and wherein 85% to 90% of the mesalamine reaches the terminal ileum and colon. view more
