Ameranth Sues Three Online Reservation Service Providers

Ameranth filed three separate suits against Eventbrite, Ticketbiscuit, and Ticketfly alleging that the defendants’ software systems infringe three patents related to a system for online reservations for restaurants and other applications on wireless devices (6,384,850, 6,871,325, and 8,146,077).  Ameranth last filed suit in Sept. 2012 against Apple alleging that Apple’s “Passbook” infringes the patents-in-suit and one other (6,982,733).  Since June 2007, Ameranth has filed a total of 42 suits against more than 30 companies — including a string of 21 suits that were filed in June 2012 against a range of travel websites, hotel chains, and ticket reservation service providers – and has been subject to two declaratory judgment actions.  According to its website, Ameranth is the leading provider of wireless and Internet-based solutions for hospitality, health care and financial markets.
