NovelPoint Security Sues Clevo

June 15, 2012

NovelPoint Security [NPE] filed suit against Clevo, alleging that Clevo’s computers that include a security system infringe two patents related to limiting access to computer memory and peripheral devices for security purposes.  NovelPoint Security has filed over 30 prior suits since March 2012 against Acer, AMAX Information Technologies, Apple, ASI, ASUS, Chassis Plans, Dell, DRS Tactical, Fujitsu-Siemens, GammaTech, Gateway, General Dynamics, General Technics, Getac, Golden Star, HP, Lenovo, Logic Instrument, Microtrain, Midern Computer, Motion Computing, Motorola, MSI, NCS Technologies, Nexcom, Oracle, Panasonic, Polywell, Samsung, Sony, Technology Advancement Group, Toshiba, and Xplore Technologies.  Two entities named NovelPoint Learning and NovelPoint Tracking filed suit in April 2010 and April 2012, asserting different patents against five and 10 defendants respectively.  All three entities are located in Allen, TX.  David Reardon is the named inventor on the patents-in-suit, and while NovelPoint Security claims to be the owner by assignment of the patents, no assignment about the patents has been recorded with the PTO.  RPX reviewed this portfolio (Reardon Hardware) on the open market in 2008 and again in July 2010.  6/14, Eastern District of Texas, Judge Rodney Gilstrap, 2:2012cv00344.
