New Finland-based NPE Sues AT&T

February 1, 2013

Wireless Handover Oy, a new non-practicing entity and subsidiary of Domiras Oy, filed suit against AT&T alleging that AT&T’s networks, such as its 4G radio, infringe a patent related to a wireless communication network system (7,953,407).  This is the first patent infringement suit initiated by Wireless Handover Oy. The ’407 patent was invented by Risto Makipaa and assigned to Domiras Oy in July 2000.  According to the complaint, Wireless Handover Oy is the exclusive owner of all rights, title and interest to the patent-in-suit. This is the company’s single issued patent to date, which was issued on May 31, 2011. 1/31, Northern District of Texas, 3:2013cv00507.
