C4cast.com Sues Two Online Media Content Distributors

January 29, 2013

C4cast.com filed two separate suits against A.H. Belo and Hearst alleging that the defendants’ website systems infringe two patents related to maintaining a collection of resources on an Internet website (6,658,467 and 7,958,204).  Last week, C4cast.com asserted the same patents in four similar suits against Kohl’s, L.L. Bean, Recreational Equipment, and Sears.  Since May 2012, C4cast.com has filed 15 prior suits, including the current suits, against other website operators, such as Blockbuster, Dell, Dish Network, and GameStop. Mark Rice, Stephen Klein, Michael Phillips, Chapman Findlay, and William Jennings are the named inventors on the patents-in-suit, which were assigned to c4cast.com in September 1999. 1/28, Eastern District of Texas, 2:2013cv00055; 2:2013cv00056.
