IP Nav Entity Sues HP and One Other with Messaging Patents

February 1, 2013

YYZ, an IPNav controlled entity, filed suits against HP and Software AG alleging that the defendants’ software infringes two patents related to asynchronous messaging (7,062,749 and 7,603,674). YYZ filed previous suits against the two defendants and others in February 2012 asserting a related messaging patent (8,046,747). In March 2012, YYZ sued MetaStorm and OpenText alleging patent infringement and was subject to an action for declaratory judgment brought by InterSystems. According to the complaint, a reexamination certificate was issued for the ’749 patent on January 10, 2013. Regarding the ’674 patent, the USPTO has issued a notice of intent to issue a reexamination certificate. 1/24, District of Delaware, 1:13cv00136; 1:13cv00137.
