C4cast.com Sues Four More E-Commerce Website Operators

C4cast.com filed four separate suits against Kohl’s, L.L. Bean, Recreational Equipment, and Sears alleging that the defendants’ website systems infringe two patents related to maintaining a collection of resources on an Internet website (6,658,467 and 7,958,204).  Since May 2012, C4cast.com has filed 8 prior suits against other website operators, including Blockbuster, Dell, Dish Network, Francesca’s Collections, GameStop, JC Penney, Radioshack, Rent-A-Center, and Sally Beauty Supply. Mark Rice, Stephen Klein, Michael Phillips, Chapman Findlay, and William Jennings are the named inventors on the patents-in-suit, which were assigned to c4cast.com in September 1999.  According to the company’s website, c4cast.com was founded by Michael Phillips and Chapman Findlay, holds 10 patents, and is the creator of MacroRisk Analytics, EconomicInvestor, DualBeta, and The Economy Matters Reports.  1/2o, Eastern District of Texas, 2:2013cv00033; 2:2013cv00034; 2:2013cv00035; 2:2013cv00036.
