CreateAds Files Nine More Suits with Template-based Design Patent
- January 22, 2013
CreateAds, an Empire IP controlled entity, filed nine new suits against Cable One, Demand Media and Enom (jointly), Ecommerce, Harland Clarke, Mediacom Communications, Media Temple, NetIdentity Solutions, OneWebHosting and Zazzle alleging that the defendants’ template-based websites infringe a patent related to the use of graphic design templates (5,535,320). Last week, CreateAds asserted the same patent in four similar suits against online greeting card companies, including Hallmark and American Greetings. Since November of last year, CreateAds has filed sixteen prior suits against multiple defendants, including AT&T, Google, HP, Intuit, and Yahoo. The patent-in-suit was assigned to Empire IP by Automated Reprographics Technologies in April 2012. RPX reviewed the patent as an open market opportunity (Frencken-Acq) in November 2010. 1/18, District of Delaware, 1:2013cv00111; 1:2013cv00112; 1:2013cv00113; 1:2013cv00114; 1:2013cv00115; 1:2013cv00116; 1:2013cv00117; 1:2013cv00118; 1:2013cv00119.
