e.Digital Sues Fujifilm and Others with Flash Memory Technology Patents

e.Digital filed a new suit against joint-defendants FujifilmBest BuyBrookstoneCrutchfieldKmartSearsTarget, and Wal-Mart alleging infringement of three patents related to the use of flash memory technologies (5,491,774; 5,742,737; 5,842,170).  e.Digital has filed a total of sixteen suits, including a suit filed last week against AT&TPantechUS Cellular, and Verizon. A suit in 2008 against Avid TechnologyCasioLG ElectronicsNikonOlympusSamsung, and Sanyo was settled against all defendants, resulting in one-time licensing fees totaling $10.1 million.   The patents-in-suit originated with Comp General before being assigned to e.Digital in March 1995. 1/15, Southern District of California, assigned to Judge Barry Ted Moskowitz and referred to Magistrate Judge Barbara Lynn Major, 3:2013cv00112.
