Acacia Sub Targets Internet-based Providers of Online Photo Services in Latest Suits
Express Card Systems, a subsidiary of Acacia Research, filed 12 separate suits against Coscto, CVS Caremark, HP, Hy-Vee, Meijer, Rite Aid, Shutterfly, Supervalu, Target, Vistaprint, Walgreen, and Wal-Mart alleging infringement of two patents related to a card printing system (5,552,994, 5,748,484). In October 2010, Express Card Systems filed a prior suit against four of the defendants named in the current suit, including CVS Caremark, Walgreen, Wal-Mart, and Shutterfly, asserting infringement of a different patent. That suit was dismissed in March 2011.
