Select Notifications Media filed suit against Earthlink alleging that the Internet service provider’s Earthlink Finder service infringes a patent related to domain redirection (7,631,101).  Select Notifications Media filed a prior suit against defendant Comcast last month.  The patent-in-suit was assigned to Select Notifications Media by Paxfire in May 2012.  RPX reviewed the patent-in-suit on the open market three times – twice in June 2010 and once in August 2011 as Thinkalike 2, 3, and 4.  According to the complaint, Paxfire provided notice of the patent to Earthlink as early as 2010.  Other recent NPE campaigns targeting domain redirection services include Edison Lux and Acacia’s DN Lookup Technologies.  12/21, Eastern District of Texas, assigned to Judge Leonard Davis, 6:2012cv00959.
