Eclipse IP Continues to Target Car Companies with Suit against Toyota

Eclipse IP filed suit against Toyota alleging that Toyota’s vehicle navigation systems infringe two patents related to monitoring traffic data.  Eclipse IP has filed more than 20 suits since May 2011 against over 25 defendants including other automotive companies such as Aston MartinHonda, Nissan, Volkswagen and Volvo. The patents-in-suit were assigned by the inventor, Scott A. Hortstemeyer, to Martin Kelly Jones of ArrivalStar before being assigned to Eclipse IP in January 2011.  11/30, Central District of California, assigned to Judge Dean D. Pregerson and referred to Magistrate Judge Carla Woehrle, 2:2012cv10268.
