NPE Sues Apple over DVD Products with Patent Previously Available on the Open Market

Technology Licensing Company (TLC) filed suit against Apple alleging that the defendant’s PCs and laptops with DVD players infringe a patent related to the display of animation sequences. TLC has filed over 40 suits since 2004. According to the complaint, TLC has licensed the patent-in-suit to more than 35 manufacturers and sellers of DVD players. RPX reviewed the patent-in-suit on the open market (Kulas – Acq) in March 2009. 12/3, Northern District of California, assigned to Magistrate Judge Joseph C. Spero, 3:2012cv06124.
