Pollin Patent Licensing and Autoscribe Sue Commerce Bank

Autoscribe and Pollin Patent Licensing (PPL) filed suit against Commerce Bank alleging that the defendant’s check-by-phone system infringes a patent related to check processing.  According to the complaint, Robert Pollin, the named inventor on the patent-in-suit, assigned the patent to Autoscribe and PPL is the exclusive licensee.  Autoscribe and PPL have filed more than 10 prior suits since January 2010 against Allstate, AT&T, BB&T, Capital One, Citibank, Combine Insurance Services, FIA Card Services, HSBC, Illinois Bell Telephone, SBC Internet, Sun Trust Banks, United States Cellular, and Wells Fargo.  Autoscribe and PPL have had four actions for declaratory judgment brought against them by 21st Mortgage Corporation, Affiliated Acceptance Corporation, BMO Harris National Association, and Online Resources.  11/29, Eastern District of Missouri, 4:2012cv02211.
