  • November 22, 2012

Aeritas filed two separate suits against Cinemark and Virgin America, alleging that Cinemark’s mobile application for devices using iOS and Android operating systems infringes two patents related to mixed-mode interaction and Virgin America’s mobile boarding pass products infringe two different patents related to facilitating wireless E-commerce transactions.  Aeritas has filed five prior suits since October 2011 against Alaska Air Group, Continental Airlines, Delta Airlines, United Airlines, and US Airways Group.  Malik Mamdani and Curtis Grant are the named inventors on the patents-in-suit, as well as the CEO and COO of Aeritas. RPX reviewed the one of the patents-in-suit (‘819) as an open market opportunity (Aeritas 2-Acq) in May 2011.  11/19, Northern District of Texas, assigned to Judge Jane J. Boyle, 3:2012cv04722; District of Delaware, no judge yet assigned, 1:2012cv01492.
