Innovative Automation filed three separate suits against Apple, Amazon, and Spotify, alleging that the defendants’ media distribution services infringe two patents related to data duplication over a network.  Innovative Automation filed nine prior suits between March and August of 2011, primarily targeting small providers of optical disc duplication technology. The patents-in-suit were assigned to Innovative Automation by JC Research in February 2011.  The named inventor  of the patents, Sungil Lee, appears to control both entities.  11/16, Eastern District of Texas, 6:2012cv00881; 6:2012cv00882; 6:2012cv00883.
