Joao Control & Monitoring filed suit against Ford Motor Company, alleging that the Ford SYNC system infringes three patents related to remotely monitoring and controlling a vehicle or device. Joao Control & Monitoring has filed over 10 prior suits since October 2011. Joao Control & Monitoring previously asserted two different patents against Ford and Ford’s Sync 911 Assist application. That case was transferred from the Southern District of California to the Eastern District of Michigan in September 2012 and is currently pending. Raymond Joao is the named inventor on the patents-in-suit, which he assigned to Joao Control & Monitoring in December 2008.
