Acacia’s Revenues Down 30% from Q2, Per Portfolio Acquisition Expenses Remain High

October 25, 2012- Acacia Research announced the company’s Q3 2012 financial results on October 18th. Acacia reported that it spent $24.5 million to acquire 13 patent portfolios in Q3. In Q2, Acacia spent $48 million to acquire 27 portfolios. The average portfolio spend for the two quarters greatly exceeds same quarter totals for 2011. In Q2 and Q3 of 2011, Acacia spent only $2 million to acquire 17 portfolios. The average 2012 Q2-Q3 portfolio expense is ten times greater- $1.8 million average per portfolio as compared to $118,000. Acacia reported Q3 revenues of $35 million and 33 new “revenue agreements”. In Q2, Acacia generated $50.5 million and reported 38 new agreements.
