Abarta filed three separate suits against Lincoln Electric Company, Sensics, and Vuzix, alleging that the defendants’ augmented reality systems infringe a patent related to a virtual reality system.  Abarta has filed four prior suits since October 10, 2012 against EON Reality, Invensys Systems, Mechdyne, and NaturalPoint.  The patent-in-suit was assigned to Volo in 2007, and according to the complaint, Abarta is the exclusive licensee and possesses the right to sue for infringement and recover past damages.  RPX reviewed the patent-in-suit as part of an open market opportunity (VOLO) that was offered for sale by IP Offerings in August 2010.  10/23, Eastern District of Texas, no judge yet assigned, 2:2012cv00680; 2:2012cv00581; 2:2012cv00682.
