Deutsche Bank Files DJ against Maxim Integrated Products

October 23, 2012

Deutsche Bank AG New York Branch filed a complaint for declaratory judgment against Maxim Integrated Products, alleging that Deutsche Bank’s mobile banking software application does not infringe four patents related to electronic modules used for secure transactions.  According to the complaint in December 2011 Maxim sent claim charts and a technical analysis document to Deutsche Bank in an attempt to license the patents-in-suit to Deutsche Bank.  Maxim has filed over 10 prior suits since January 2012 against defendants including Bank of America, Citigroup, Expedia, Groupon, JP Morgan Chase, and Merrill Lynch, and has been subject to nine separate actions for declaratory judgment over the same time period.  Maxim acquired the four patents-in-suit through an assignment executed in June 2008 from Dallas Semiconductor.  10/18, Southern District of New York, assigned to Judge Miriam Goldman Cedarbaum, 1:2012cv07806.
