New NPE Files Suits Targeting Optical Disc Technology
- October 11, 2012
Advanced Optical Tracking filed six separate suits against MAM-A, Primera Technology, Philips, Sharp, Sony, and the Symmetry Group, alleging that the defendants’ Blu-Ray recordable (BD-R) and rewriteable (BD-RE) discs infringe a patent related to storing data on optical discs. These are the first patent infringement suits initiated by Advanced Optical Tracking. The patent-in-suit was issued to DPHI Acquisitions (d/b/a Dataplay) in January 2006 and later assigned to Enhanced Data Solutions in June 2012. In September 2012, Enhanced Data Solutions transferred the patent to Advanced Optical Tracking. 10/5, District of Delaware, no judge yet assigned, 1:2012cv01291; 1:2012cv01292; 1:2012cv01293; 1:2012cv01294; 1:2012cv01295; 1:2012cv01296.
