Qxzab [NPE] filed suit against the Sarasota County Public Hospital Board (d/b/a/ Sarasota Memorial Health Care System), alleging that the defendants’ smart card-based patient record system infringes a patent related to storing medical records using a smart card to store data.  Qxzab filed suit against Lake Pointe Operating Company in August 2012.  The patent-in-suit was issued to Stuart Bowie in November 1998 and later assigned to Information Retrieval Acquisition in March 2012.  Information Retrieval Acquisition  assigned the patent to Qxzab in August 2012.  Mark Baerwaldt is the named correspondent on the assignment from Information Retrieval to Qxzab and the correspondent on the assignment of a patent asserted by plaintiff entity, Quxuz. RPX reviewed the Qxzab patent in February 2010 as part of the Spring 2010 ICAP Ocean Tomo patent auction (OT ICAP Spring 10 Lot Q – Bowie – Acq).  10/5, Middle District of Florida, assigned to Judge Mary S.
