Wi-LAN filed suit against LG Electronics, alleging that LG’s flat panel televisions infringe two patents related to signal processing and interlaced video display. One of the patents-in-suit originated with Infineon and was later assigned to Wi-LAN in May 2009 and the other originated with Brooktree Broadband (a subsidiary of Conexant) and was assigned to Wi-LAN in December 2009. RPX reviewed the Infineon patent as part of an open market opportunity sourced directly from Wi-LAN (WiLAN DTV-Acq) in November 2011. Wi-LAN is a Canadian publicly-traded, patent licensing company based in Ottawa, Ontario. Wi-LAN has licensed filed more than a dozen patent suits since 2007. 10/3, Southern District of Florida, Judge Joan A. Lenard, 1:2012cv23611.
