October 1, 2012

Internet Patents [NPE] filed two separate suits against Active Network, General Automobile Insurance Services, and Permanent General Assurance Corporation of Ohio, alleging that the defendants’ websites and online insurance quoting application technology infringe a patent related to a dynamic user interface for an online, virtual application.  Internet Patents filed one prior suit in June 2012 against eBags and TellApart.  The patent-in-suit originated with InsWeb Corporation, which changed its name to Internet Patents in December 2011.  9/27, Northern District of California, assigned to Magistrate Judge Joseph C.
