Empire IP May Have Plans to Target Automotive Companies

September 26, 2012- On September 18th, Empire IP (a programmatic enforcement entity behind a number of enforcement campaigns in the past year) recorded the assignment of a patent acquired from an individual inventor by Empire IP in April 2010. Empire IP’s various plaintiff entities have filed more than 50 patent suits against more than 300 defendants since March 2011. The patent, issued in 2005 with a 2003 priority, generally relates to a user interface for the display of vehicle subsystem information. Auto companies are the most likely targets of a potential future litigation effort.
