Bluestone Innovations [NPE] filed two separate suits against Best Buy and LG Electronics, alleging that the defendants’ LED backlit television products infringe a patent related to semi LED technology.  Bluestone has filed three prior suits since May 2010 against more than 15 defendants including Epistar, Formosa Epitaxy, OSRAM, and SemiLEDs.  The patent-in-suit originated with Xerox and was assigned to Bluestone in May 2010.  On July 10, 2012 Northern District of California judge, James Ware, denied Bluestone defendant Nichia‘s motion to dismiss for lack of standing in case  filed in January of this year (3:2012-cv-00059. 9/11, Eastern District of Virginia, 1:2012cv01011; 2:2012cv00503.
