September 7, 2012 – Market research firm, Gartner reports that the worldwide external controller-based disk storage market totaled $5.5 billion in Q2 2012, a 6.7% year-over-year increase.  EMC led with 33.3% market share and was followed by IBM with 13.8%, NetApp with 11.1%, HP with 9.4%, Hitachi/HDS with 8.7%, and Dell with 7.3%.
