Gildersleeve Patents Asserted by Orientview in New Suit

September 6, 2012

Orientview Technologies [NPE] filed suit against Iconix Brand Group, alleging that Iconix Brand Group’s website includes a recommended products list that infringes a patent related to the presentation of viewer specific information.  Orientview Technologies has filed one prior suit against SkyMall.  The patent-in-suit originated with Firestar Systems, which later assigned it back to inventor Michael Crawford.  Crawford assigned the patent to Blue Hills Braintree LLC in November 2009.  According to the complaint, Orientview Technologies is the exclusive licensee of the patent-in-suit.  The patent-in-suit was also litigated three times under an exclusive license by Gildersleeve Holdings [NPE] between January 2010 and February 2011.  RPX reviewed the patent-in-suit on the open market in June 2009 (Firestar).  8/31, District of Delaware, no judge yet assigned, 1:2012cv01095.
