August 30, 2012- Webvention and Lodsys, related plaintiff entities that have collectively filed patent lawsuits against more than 160 companies over basic website functionality beginning in July 2010, may be winding down enforcement efforts.  The last suit filed by Lodsys was in May 2012 and the last suit filed by Webvention was in January of this year.  The two entities hold patents originally assigned to an individual inventor, Daniel Abelow.  In 2004, Daniel Abelow assigned the patents to Ferrara Ethereal LLC.  (Ferrara Ethereal has been identified by some press sources as an Intellectual Ventures holding entity.)  Ferrara Ethereal subsequently assigned the patents to Webvention via a merger conveyance recorded in November 2009.
