Retailers Form Mobile Payments Network

August 15, 2012 – Retailers including Best Buy, Target, and Wal-Mart announced the formation of a mobile payments network to enable smartphone transactions. The WSJ reports that mobile payment transactions are expected to reach $600 billion worldwide by 2016, up from $172 billion this year.
