TQP Development [NPE] filed eight separate suits against Ann, CarMax Business Services, Frost National Bank, Gilt Groupe, HRB Digital, Northern Trust Corporation, PlainsCapital, and Prosperity Bancshares, alleging that the defendants’ websites infringe a patent related to encrypted data transmission. TQP, founded by Erich Spangenberg, has filed over 60 previous suits since December 2008 against over 100 defendants including Dell, Google, LinkedIn, Salesforce, Skype, and Sony. More than 30 suits of those suits were filed in 2012 alone.
