Google Acquires Facial Recognition Company

July 27, 2011- Facial recognition software company, PittPatt (Pittsburgh Pattern Recognition) announced that it has been acquired by Google. PittPatt was spun out of a research arm of Carnegie Mellon University and develops software to identify individuals in video and still images. According to the PTO, the company currently holds one issued US patent (with a 2006 priority) and two published applications on its technology.
