Alcorn Communications [NPE] filed suit against Direct IQ, alleging that Direct IQ’s promotional e-mails infringe two patents related to the structured generation and distribution of a news release.  Alcorn has filed five prior suits since May 2012 against EZ Publishing, Implix USA, PulsePoint, VerticalResponse, and Vocus.  According to the complaint, Alcorn is the exclusive licensee of the patents-in-suit, which originated with NewsGems and were assigned to Kolomoki Mounds in June 2010.  RPX reviewed the portfolio as an open market opportunity (NewsGems) in May 2009.  7/20, District of Delaware, no judge yet assigned, 1:2012cv00967.
