New Empire IP Campaign Targets Websites with Virtual Models
- July 18, 2012
Lennon Image Technologies [NPE] filed six separate suits against Advance Magazine Publishers, Boucheron Joaillerie USA, Conde Nast, De Beers Diamond Jewelers, Forevermark, Mattel, Skullcandy, The Swatch Group, and Tissot, alleging that the defendants’ websites that include features allowing for the manipulation of a customer image infringe a patent related to virtual image models. These are the first patent infringement suits initiated by Lennon Image. The patent-in-suit was assigned by the inventor to Empire IP in February 2012 before being assigned to Lennon Image Technologies in June 2012. Empire IP’s website states that it was founded by “patent attorneys who formerly worked in prestigious New York City law firms representing some of the world’s largest corporations.” Empire IP is behind five other NPE campaigns launched in 2012: Cuozzo Speed Technologies, PanoMap, PotterVoice, Rotatable Technologies, and Secor View Technologies. 7/16, District of Delaware, no judge yet assigned, 1:2012cv00900, 1:2012cv00901, 1:2012cv00902, 1:2012cv00903, 1:2012cv00904, 1:2012cv00905.
