RecogniCorp [NPE] filed two separate suits against CCP, Hi5, OutSmart and Tagged, alleging that the defendants’ software products and use of software for avatar creation infringes a patent related to composite facial image design.  RecogniCorp has filed five prior suits since December 2011 against Data Design Interactive, Host Europe, Liberty Media, Manga Entertainment, Nintendo, Oakley Capital Private Equity, Starz Entertainment and Vistaprint.  The patent-in-suit originated with InterQuest and was assigned to RecogniCorp by its parent entity, Apache Innovations, in November 2011.  Apache Innovations acquired the patent-in-suit from IQ Biometrix in October 2011.  7/6, Northern District of California, assigned to Magistrate Judge Nathanael M.
