Benefit Funding Systems [NPE] and Retirement Capital Access Management Company [NPE] filed three separate suits against Advance America, Regions Financial Corporation, and US Bancorp, alleging that the defendants’ systems for advance payments infringe a patent related to converting a designated portion of future social security and other retirement payments to current benefits. These are the first patent infringement suits initiated by Benefit Funding Systems and Retirement Capital Access Management Company. According to the complaint, Retirement Capital Access Management Company owns the patent-in-suit, and Benefit Funding Systems is the exclusive licensee.
