Canatelo [NPE] filed five separate suits against Avigilon, Hikvision USA, Interlogix, Nuvico, UTC Fire & Security, and Vivotek USA, alleging that the defendants’ video-based security systems and wireless network cameras infringe two patents related to computerized video security and monitoring systems.  Canatelo has filed one prior suit against D-Link and OfficeMax since May 2012.  Luis Ramirez, Pedro Cruz-Burgos, and Dan Rodriguez are the named inventors on the patents-in-suit, which were assigned to Innovation Institute in August 2002 and November 2002.  According to the complaint, Canatelo owns the patents-in-suit, but this has not been recorded at the USPTO.  6/4, District of Puerto Rico, no judge yet assigned, 3:2012cv01428; 3:2012cv01429; 3:2012cv01430; 3:2012cv01431; 3:2012cv01432.
